Does Insulation work in the Summer Months?

Myth = Most people think that the main purpose of thermal insulation is to insulate your house through the winters month. 

Fact = It actually helps prevent your house from overheating in the summer month too? 

Interesting isn’t it. Most people believing that insulating your house only keeps it warm. But how? Have you ever wondered how insulation works? 

Well, Insulation works by slowing the transfer of heat between building materials. It uses dead air space to trap in the air and slow down the heat flow between temperatures. Air is fantastic insu­la­tor when it becomes trapped, so by trap­ping lit­tle pock­ets of air within the insu­la­tion, you will pro­duce an efficient insu­lat­ing effect. 

In the winter, insulation keeps warm air in your house (which everyone wants)  and then in the warm weather in the summer; it prevents the hot outside air from entering through your walls. Thus saving you money on heating in the winter and air conditioning in the summer.

As opposed to trapping air bub­bles in its bulk with other thermal insulations,  foil faced insulation has one side covered in a reflective foil. The foil side is then usually installed facing the warm air surface in order to reflect any heat/energy back into the building or home.
